Leather items are one of the most beautiful items you can possess as they get even more beautiful with age. But as it is a natural material it also needs some special attention. Proper care prevents the leather from drying out and cracking, and it protects it from excessive moisture that can cause the skin to swell or mildew. CARE FOR JEWELRY
For tips on how to treat your jewelry from PIPOL in the best of ways you first need to know what material your jewelry consists of. Jewelry from us can be either real 925 sterling silver, genuine brass, silver and gold plated metal and stone or wood.
As a general advice on care for your jewelry it is important for it to be taken off during washing, showering and swimming. All materials in jewelry tarnish so in order for it to last longer this is the overall best you can do to prevent it from ageing. Having said that, real silver and brass jewelry can be re-polished and turn into the way they originally looked by using a polisher on a soft cloth. Follow the instructions on your polisher that you can find in well-assorted stores.
For plated jewelry - also called costume jewelry - it is however a different story. Cleaning instructions for costume jewelry mostly consists of understanding what you cannot use to clean it: Avoid using alcohols or acids and do not use soap and water to clean costume jewelry as it leaves a residue on the metal. There are cleaners specially made for costume jewelry which can be used to take away spots and bad colorings, but make sure not to mix this up with a silver cleaner as it will tarnish your jewelry instead of cleaning it.
Our plated jewelry are mostly oxidized which means they are treated with a blackish wear-and-tear finish giving them a more antique look. This treatment is also making the look of your jewelry to last longer as the aging process is similar to the oxidization. All platings rub-off over time but in order to prevent the tarnish it is important to follow the rules of letting your jewelry be the first thing you take off - and the last thing you put on in order to avoide make-up, perfume and sprays effecting them as much as possible. How much your plated jewelry tarnich is also very individual and relates to your own body and skin type.
